“webisodes may start to look more like TV – and TV may look more like the Web as well” Brian Stelter, The New York Times

Webisodes are short programs,’episodes’, viewed online. Webisodes are typically shorter than regular TV programming. Often packaged as 5 minute episodes, webisode production is not subject to the same demands of networks as regular TV and are significantly less costly to produce.

The amount of online video content consumed by Australian audiences is increasing at a rate of over 70% per year – which, combined with the rapid influx of Smart TV’s and mobile devices capable of handling video, means there is significant potential for web series to reach a much broader audience than it would of even a year or two ago.

High quality webisodes can be a real alternative to regular TV programming and can be packaged together to form a more substantial program for subscriptions, downloads or DVD.
